A MATHS teacher claims he has the formula which proves England will win the World Cup – after a Year 6 pupil showed him a complex equation.

Tom Coleman, from Ashby, Leics, was wearing a Gareth Southgate-style waistcoat when he wrote out the equation on his electric white board.

The 33-year-old was shown the formula by a 10-year-old boy and he instantly wanted to share the clip online to get people excited about the crunch semi-final tie tonight.

He told The Sun Online: “It’s a fantastic equation and it shows that football’s coming home!”

Tom stood wrote the equation out on a board at the Elizabeth Woodville Primary School in Leicester.

The dad-of-one started by writing 1966 – the last time England won the World Cup – and he squared each number before multiplying them by each other.

Tom was left with 1 x 81 x 36 x 36 which equals 104,976.

He then told viewers that it has been “52 years of hurt” and divided 104,976 by 52 – leaving him with 2018.7 – which is the current date because we are in July.

Tom told The Sun Online: “A Year 6 boy came in and said to me ‘you’ve got to have a look at this’ and wrote the equation down for me.

“I’m not sure where he saw it but I thought it was fantastic and wanted to record it on camera to get people excited about tonight's game.

“The final answer goes on for a few more decimal points but it’s definitely 2018.7 and I just thought it was hilarious because we’re in July.”

He added: “The kids absolutely love the video and I’ll be showing them all again on the white board in assembly later. We’ve been singing Three Lions before all of the England games.

“Football is definitely coming home. Southgate is doing a fantastic job and this is our year.”
